Chicago’s Newest Neighbors: Examining the Migrant Crisis

Join the University of Chicago for a panel discussion about the influx of migrants moving to our sanctuary city. We will discuss the policy successes and failures, as well as the necessary wrap-around supports for healthcare, education, and the welfare of our newest neighbors. The panel will feature Natalie Moore, WBEZ journalist covering race, class and communities; Aimee Hilado, Assistant Professor at the Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice and expert in immigrant trauma and mental health; Theresa Thornburg, Director of the Chicago Lights Social Service Center; and Brandie Knazze, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Family and Support Services.
