ABOUT THE PLAY:
“Back Home” is about a pan-African family living in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood. The intergernational play is set in 2010 during President Obama’s first term and the housing crash. A granddaughter runs away from home from Minneapolis to connect with her family because she longs to connect not only with her estranged family but her Blackness.
